FaceBook Integration Shows up with PlayBook OS 2.0

blackberry_playbook_OS_2.0_facebook

With the release of OS 2.0 getting oh so close it is nice to see some of the features/changes that continue to be added. While at DevCon Europe, Kevin at CrackBerry shot a video that showed FaceBook integration into the messaging account setup on PlayBook OS 2.0. From a previous video we posted we know about LinkedIn, Twitter, Gmail and stuff, so it is nice to see for those that want it. If you missed seeing how the integration will look with 2.0 that video is worth a watch. Very nice to see Facebook has been integrated. Not everyone will use it, but integrated options are always a big plus.

BlackBerry PlayBook OS v1.0.6 Hits Beta Zone

blackberry playbook 1 BlackBerry PlayBook OS v1.0.6 Hits Beta Zone

I was hoping RIM would allow for beta testing of either PlayBook apps or the OS itself through Beta Zone or the Test Center in App World. Turns out, RIM may be doing just that with OS v1.0.6 hitting Beta Zone. Some users have reported to receive notification of the new OS preview build now available. Not all users appear to have access to this testing program, as it is labeled as exclusive.

The program also appears to be focused only towards developers, but not all users reported to have received the invite are developers. The invitation details go as such,

“On behalf of Research In Motion®, we are pleased to tell you about an exclusive Preview Program focused on providing developers a chance to test their applications on BlackBerry Tablet OS v1.0.6. The goal of this program is to ensure that your AIR 2.7 and Flash 10.3 applications are optimized and ready for the BlackBerry Tablet OS v1.0.6 release. Please read this entire notice, as it contains key information about your participation in this program.

This program is only available to a select group of BlackBerry PlayBook developers; as such we are very interested in hearing your comments and experiences. Since the program will remain open for approximately 1 week, it is crucial to submit all issues and feedback in a timely manner. Please use the programs discussion boards and share your experiences with us. RIM moderators will review.”

if you’ve received this invite, drop us a note on what’s new and how well BlackBerry PlayBook OS 1.0.6 is running!

ITS HERE ITS HERE, BlackBerry OS6 Beta is here for T-mobile 9700

If you are a BlackBerry Beta Zone subscriber and have a BlackBerry Bold 9700, 9780 or BlackBerry Curve 9300, you might have been asked to register for an upcoming OS6 beta for these device. I know I was as soon as I logged in. I’m on T-Mobile and have a 9700 lying around to use for this beta. It’s good to see T-Mobile letting RIM use their customers test out an OS before it’s release. I hope other cellular providers do the same, that way we can get a good release of an OS. I believe customer feed back is a hundred times better than and internal testing. As you can see from the picture below the beta OS6.0.0.448 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is out and ready to be tested

I’ll be honest I would rather get a beta release from RIM than from Hotfiles, rapidshare, megaupload, or zshare lol kidding, than from an unknown source. I do take my risk when installing a leaked OS, but I understand the risk. Now with T-Mobile and RIM letting existing customers test this OS before it release to the public, is great for us leak OS installs. If this works out well I believe more beta OS will be released this way. Crossing my fingers lol.
